Committees

Our committees, comprised of our members, are the true backbone to our organization, and we ask that every member serve on at least one. Please see below for a description of each committee and how they contribute to the greater mission of the Women of Waynesville.

Committees meet the third Thursday of each month. Committee chairs are responsible for an agenda for their respective committees, and a member takes notes to share with the board.

  • (1) Plans and organizes socials and open House events
    (2) Manages mentorship assignments for experienced members to mentor new members
    (3) Keeps a pulse on the group (calls members who haven’t been participating, let us know if someone is ill or going through a crisis, etc.)
    (4) Maintains member database on WOW website to include personal and professional information – to better utilize member talents.
    (5) Distributes new member packets, keeps up with ensuring new members have paid their dues, are connected to email/website/social media, have their new packet, are assigned to a committee, have a mentor.

  • (1) Brainstorm/research fundraising ideas with member’s input
    (2) Makes fundraiser recommendations to the board
    (3) Manages event logistics (set up/tear down booths)
    (4) Seeks large sponsorships for events
    (5) Tracks member-business solicitation spreadsheets and reaches out to each member for status updates on their fundraising commitments

  • (1) Internal and external communications (Email/Facebook/Instagram)
    (2) Updates website
    (3) Creates and sends out press releases and quarterly newsletter
    (4) Schedules check presentation photos
    (5) Sends out thank you cards and donation receipts
    (6) Creates standard templates for sponsorship/thank you letters
    (7) Orientates new members on passwords for website, email, Facebook, etc.
    (8) Develops marketing materials to distribute
    (9) Develops welcome packets for new members (welcome letter, rack card, copy of bylaws, list of committee duties, list of members on each committee, WOW business card, schedule of events)

  • (1) Must be available for quick communication with applicants
    (2) Evaluates stealth request applications and makes recommendations to the board of directors
    (3) Compiles list of community resources with which to direct stealth applicants
    (4) Liaisons with other nonprofits - identify needs in the community
    (5) Schedules occasional special presentations at meetings to educate members on a nonprofit, service, fundraising effort, initiative, etc.
    (6) Research/recommends nonprofits to support
    (7) Manages Special Projects that WOW sponsors fiscally and/or supports with woman power (Habitat Women’s Build, Feeding the Multitudes, Main Street Mile, etc)

  • (1) Secures photographers for photo shoots
    (2) Schedules and coordinates photo shoots with models and photographers
    (3) Scouts and secures photo shoot locations
    (4) Assists in directing specific shoots
    (5) Coordinates with Fundraising committee to oversee and track calendar ad sales
