WOW, We've Been...and Continue to be...Busy!

This year has started off busy, and successful, for us...and we wouldn't have it any other way!

The annual Mardi Gras Ball benefiting the Haywood County Schools Foundation (HCSF) was held on February 25 in Waynesville. WOW has participated in raising money for this event numerous times, at which a Queen and King of the Ball are crowned based on the amount of money their sponsoring organizations raise. We put forward Katie Vanderpool, a member of WOW since its inception, as a candidate for Queen of the Ball. Although she was not crowned Queen, over $166,000 in total was raised for the HCSF and we were honored to play a role in raising money for such an important cause.

Bowling for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America

On March 18, WOW members participated in Bowling for Kids' Sake, a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBS). This year's theme, "Once Upon A Time", reflected BBBS's committment to improving children's reading skills. A book drive was also held at the event, to which WOW members provided donations.

Also in March, WOW was a Bronze Sponsor of Haywood Pathways Center's (HPC) 5th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser. In addition to being a sponsor, WOW members volunteered their time setting up and decorating for the event, serving and other duties during the event and cleaning up afterwards. HPC plays a critical role in our community and we are always happy to help them in any way we can.

And last but not least, be on the lookout for details regarding our current fundraising project...keep the evening of May 26th open (hint, hint)!
