The mission of WOW is to provide an outlet for women in the community to join forces with the purpose and collective passion of supporting the needs of women & children in Haywood County.
Vision
To become a positive, active and called upon support system for local organizations and residents in Haywood County, North Carolina through innovative and inspirational methods of fundraising.
Who we are
Women of Waynesville is an organization committed to supporting the needs of the community. We are the only all women’s organization in Western North Carolina that functions the way we function.
REAL WOMEN RAISING REAL MONEY
FOR REAL CAUSES RAISING REAL AWARENESS.
WOW is made up of women from all walks of the Universe. From aged 20s to 80s, from other countries and states to born and raised in Haywood County, from hippies to those of us too young to know what a true hippie really is. We have cancer survivors, abuse survivors, relationship seekers, and women that have been married for longer than they would like to remember. We have lesbians and artists and introverts and musicians and comedians and quiet observers and overly loud speakers and opinionated to the 10th degree and lovers and romantics and huggers and thinkers and writers.
WOW is a “congregation of women” that has developed organically and via the women that have come into WOW. As an organization, we have learned that every woman has a place inside of our group.
AND THERE’S MORE…
In addition to being an all women’s organization, WOW has also become a platform for new relationships to be found. As women, and as we get older or perhaps have moved to Haywood County recently, it’s not the easiest thing to make new friends. We are truly like a sisterhood and a support system for one another, we enjoy socializing and celebrating life and all it’s beauty and cruelties. With this being said, and as with any relationship, you get what you put in.

Our Committees
Our committees, comprised of our members, are the true backbone to our organization, and we ask that every member serve on at least one. We encourage each new member to thoughtfully choose their committee. Please see below for a description of each committee and how they contribute to the greater mission of the Women of Waynesville.
Board of Directors
The board is responsible for overall policy and direction of the organization. WOW's Board consists of seven Directors.
Communications and public relations committee
Our Communications Committee is in charge of social media posts, incoming and outgoing e-mail messages, and all internal and external correspondence. This committee handles press releases, informational brochures, newsletters, meeting agenda's, and the organization's website.
Community outreach committee
- Serves as a liaison with other organizations in the area
- Maintains a list of local resources for women who may need assistance
- Coordinate WOW's stealth missions
Finance committee
Our finance committee oversees development of the budget; ensures accurate tracking/monitoring/accountability for funds; ensures adequate financial controls; often led by the board treasurer; reviews major grants and associated terms.
fundraising committee
- Committee takes the lead in organizing major sponsorships for annual fundraising events
- Manage event logistics (e.g. venue, ticket sales, decoration, food and beverage service, props etc.)
- Secure photographers for annual WOW calendar photo shoots, print calendars, secure sales locations for calendar sales, coordinate locations for photo shoots and needed props
membership and morale
The Membership Committee are the ladies you will want to reach out to if you are interested in learning more about WOW, how to join WOW, attend a meeting and all the good stuff. The Membership Committee are women who have been with WOW for some time and understand the organization from the inside out.
